Is It a Sin to Use God's Name?
In the book of Exodus, written by Moses, we obtain the name of God. "And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, the Lord(or Yahweh) God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations," (Exodus 3:15 KJV).
Some become angry over the usage of God's name out of fear of the misusage of it; some go so far as to say the usage should not be used. This claim is rather horrid as it makes God a sinner. How can this be? Very simply, God encourages the usage of the name: "Go, and gather the elders of Israel together, and say unto them, The Lord God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, of Isaac, and of Jacob, appeared unto me, saying, I have surely visited you, and seen that which is done to you in Egypt," (Exodus 3:16 KJV). Is God sinning by encouraging the usage of the name, or is it actually okay to use the name? Clearly, we are able to use it.
