What Age Will Our New Bodies Be?

When it comes to receiving our new bodies, many questions appear. One large one is what age we will be. If a child dies, will they forever remain a child? Will the elderly forever remain old?  It is hard to provide a good answer as the Bible keeps this mainly a surprise; however, the Bible does provide some detail.

“Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not appeared as yet what we will be. We know that when He appears, we will be like Him, because we will see Him just as He is and everyone who has this hope fixed on Him purifies himself, just as He is pure,” (1 John 3:2-3 NASB1995). The verse tells us these bodies will be heavenly in some sense, but it is of course, rather vague.

Due to this lack of specificity, we really cannot give a proper answer to this question. We can, however, assume things such as disabilities or weakness that may come with age will not be present. Our bodies will be pure, so it seems rather plausible defects will not be present. This is not to say that having a disability or being old is sinful; far from it, but when we fell into sin, all of Earth also fell. Sin brought forth imperfections such as disabilities and illness (Genesis 6:12: Romans 5:18). It is a state of holiness, we would not be still faced with the appearance of sin.
