Where Was Jesus Crucified?

Perhaps the most important event in history is the day Jesus died on the cross. Surprisingly, we can get very close.

The Bible, rather fortunately, tells us where Jesus was crucified. "Then delivered he him therefore unto them to be crucified. And they took Jesus, and led him away. And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha: Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst," (John 19:16-18 KJV).

Now the next question is, where is the place of a skull or Golgotha? Well, this idea is heavily disputed. The most common theory is the Church of the Holy Sepulchre but this is a very disputed idea. Jesus was in the garden of Gethsemane when he was arrested(Mark 14:32-50), knowing this, it would be likely Jesus would be somewhere near this location when he was crucified.
