Do We Have Free Will If There is Heaven & Hell?
Do We Have Free Will if There is Heaven & Hell?
Some have argued that God does not provide free will because of Hell and Heaven, so here we will break this down. Firstly, it is best to break down how one defines something or else you just fall into games of semantics. "Free will, in philosophy and science, the supposed power or capacity of humans to make decisions or perform actions independently of any prior event or state of the universe," (Britannica, Free Will). So, let us now move to an analogy. If you are, for example, in a room where there is a button that will free you, what occurs if a person is to click it? They are to become free, even though one choice is terrible, being trapped in a room forever, they still have the freedom to be free if they so choose. Having a terrible option in one's path is not equivalent to no option, merely a poor option. As the definition shown by Britannica says, free will is having the ability to perform decisions or actions which this scenario does not contradict.
