Does The Bible Speak of Unicorns?
In the King James Version of the Bible, the word "Unicorn" is used on several occasions. "God brought them out of Egypt; He hath as it were the strength of an unicorn" (Numbers 23:22). "Save me from the lion’s mouth: For thou hast heard me from the horns of the unicorns." (Psalm 22:22). So, is it actually taking about unicorns? Well, not exactly. The Hebrew word used is "רֵמִ֣ים" on both occasions. This word means a horned, wild ox or beast that is horned.
It isn't certain what animal it was actually referring to, but the top two guesses are aurochs(also called a urus) or a rhino. This is just another example of the KJV using old English, resulting in people getting confused.
A urus or an aurochs is a type of cattle that were found in Eurasia and northern Africa. It is extinct now, unfortunately.
