How Does One Remove Demons?

How Does One Remove Demons? How Do I Get Rid of Demons?

Demons are evil spirits or fallen angels who rebelled against God and were cast out of heaven(Luke 10:18, Isaiah 14:12). They are malevolent beings who seek to harm humans and lead them away from God(1 Corinthians 11:14). As Peter too writes, “Be of sober spirit, be on the alert. Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour,” (1 Peter 5:8 NASB).

The Bible, fortunately, provides several examples of demon possession and how it was dealt with in ancient times. In the New Testament, Jesus is shown casting out demons from people, often through prayer. In the Gospel of Mark for example, it says, "And He healed many who were ill with various diseases, and cast out many demons; and He would not permit the demons to speak, because they knew who He was," (Mark 1:34 NASB). We then see the disciples of Jesus who can cast out demons. “God was performing extraordinary miracles by the hands of Paul,” (Acts 19:11 NASB). Paul, a mere follower, had his skills so well known even Jewish Exorcists desired to use his methods. “But also some of the Jewish exorcists, who went from place to place, attempted to use the name of the Lord Jesus over those who had the evil spirits, saying, “I order you in the name of Jesus whom Paul preaches!” (Acts 19:13 NASB).

The Bible also provides guidance on how to protect oneself from demonic influence. As Paul says, "Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places,” (Ephesians 6:11-12 ESV).

Prayers for protection are also a powerful tool for protection against demonic influence. You can pray for yourself or for others to be protected from evil spirits and for the strength to resist temptation. “And when he had entered the house, his disciples asked him privately, “Why could we not cast it out?” And he said to them, “This kind cannot be driven out by anything but prayer,” (Mark 9:28-29 ESV).

Rebuking is also a method we see,And the Lord said to Satan, “The Lord rebuke you, O Satan! The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is not this a brand plucked from the fire?” (Zecheriah 3:2 NASB).

Whatever trial you may be under, always know God will always love you(Romans 5:5) and never forsake you(Deuteronomy 31:6) so in your time of need, trust in him(Proverbs 3:5-6).
