What Gender is God?

A common statement by those who desire to mock God, or by those who simply don't know, will claim God is a woman. Some will even claim that the father and son are masculine while the spirit is feminine. So, what is the truth?  One verse that we can learn of his gender is Genesis 1:26.

"26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

Now when we read the actual Hebrew, we find our answer. "וַיֹּאמֶר אֱלֹהִים, נַעֲשֶׂה אָדָם בְּצַלְמֵנוּ כִּדְמוּתֵנוּ; וְיִרְדּוּ בִדְגַת הַיָּם וּבְעוֹף הַשָּׁמַיִם, וּבַבְּהֵמָה וּבְכָל-הָאָרֶץ, וּבְכָל-הָרֶמֶשׂ, הָרֹמֵשׂ עַל-הָאָרֶץ." When we read this verse we see a common ending. A yod final mem(יִם). When these two letters appear at the end of a word in Hebrew, it means masculine plural. So, God is a man.
