What Is a Spirtual Brother?
What is a Spiritual Brother?
In the Bible, a brother can serve as a close friend (Proverbs 17:17), a biological sibling (Genesis 25:26), or a fellow follower of God(Romans 8:15).
A spiritual brotherhood in that we are one with a spiritual Father. The Father has spiritually adopted those who follow him: “For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” (Romans 8:15 ESV). Again we read: “For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother,” (Matthew 12:50 ESV).
We must love our brothers and sisters in Christ as John tells us, “And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother,” (1 John 4:21 ESV).
