What is The Hypostatic Union?

The hypostatic union describes how God the Son(Jesus Christ) took on a human nature while remaining fully God at the same time; Jesus Christ, one person, yet two natures(the divine and human). We of course know Jesus is God, but he also did things such as eat(John 13) and drink(John 19:28). As humans, to sustain ourselves, we must do these things to survive. While on Earth, Jesus did the same for he had a human nature.

This is the exact reason we see Jesus being able to die on the cross. How can God die? Well, in his omnipotence, he adopted a human nature to die as a sacrifice for us.
