When Did The Women Visit Jesus's Tomb?
Many skeptics of the Bible will turn to the women who arrived at Jesus's tomb, claiming that when you read the accounts of each gospel you find a contradiction. Is this true? Well, let's debunk this claim. Skeptics use the following verses in an attempt to prove a contradiction.
"...toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb" (Matthew 28:1).
"And very early on the first day of the week, when the sun had risen, they went to the tomb" (Mark 16:2).
"But on the first day of the week, at early dawn, they went to the tomb..." (Luke 24:1).
"Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb" (John 20:1).
Mark, Matthew, and Luke tell us it was very early at dawn(dawn means the first appearance of light)/the sun was rising. John tells us it was still dark, is there an issue? No. It simply means that it was so early that the sun was rising, yet it was still dark. Anyone who has awoken early has seen this before, and if you haven't, do it when you have time.
