Why Was Paul/Saul Blinded?

Why Was Paul/Saul Blinded?

Paul(or Saul), was one day on a road that leads to Damascus(Acts 9). During this time, Paul did not know God. "And Saul, yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went unto the high priest," (Acts 9:1 KJV). A light shines from the Heavens(Acts 9:3) and he speaks to Jesus. "And he fell to the earth, and heard a voice saying unto him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? And he said, Who art thou, Lord? And the Lord said, I am Jesus whom thou persecutest: it is hard for thee to kick against the pricks. And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise, and go into the city, and it shall be told thee what thou must do," (Acts 9:4-6 KJV).

Paul was blinded for three days(Acts 9:9). He and his companions go into Damascus where he meets a man named Ananias(Acts 9:10). After meeting with Ananias, Paul becomes a Christian and is baptized(Acts 9:12-22). The point of his temporary blindness was to open his eyes, not physically, but spiritually, as a proof to Paul and likely to subdue him. He was known for attacking and arresting Christians after all(Acts 22:4-20), so if he was perfectly able, perhaps he would not have accepted Christ and Ananias.
