Is God Omnipresent?

What Does it Mean to be Omnipresent/What Does it Mean to Have Omnipresence?

Omnipresence is the ability or quality to be everywhere at the same time.

Is God Omnipresent?

Several times throughout the Bible, God is described as omnipresent. The exact word is not used, as omnipresent was first used around 1600AD, but we do get its description on numerous occasions. Is this a problem? Let me provide an example for you. I ate a fruit whose skin was red, while the interior was white. It came from a tree in my backyard. So, what was I describing? I was describing an apple! By reading my description one comes to the conclusion of an apple, the same with this term. Sure, the word perhaps was never used, but we see a description of it in the Bible. One example is in the book of Jeremiah.

“Can a man hide himself in hiding places So I do not see him?” declares the Lord. “Do I not fill the heavens and the earth?” declares the Lord" (Jeremiah 23:24 NASB1995). If God fills up the Heavens and the Earth, this is an obvious claim of omnipresence.

Another example is in Psalms. "Where can I go from Your Spirit? Or where can I flee from Your presence? If I ascend to heaven, You are there; If I make my bed in Sheol, behold, You are there." (Psalm 139:7-8 NASB1995). If one can not leave him and he is everywhere it seems easy to claim he is omnipresent.
